Dynosaur Open analyzer

BMW datalogs, checked against what the DME asked for.

Drop in an MHD or bootmod3 log. Every finding comes with the samples that prove it.

The analyzer with a generated example pull: boost falls under its target late in the pull, and Boost and Ignition are flagged.

A boost leak the DME never flagged

On the owner's car, boost held about 2 psi under target from 5,000 to 6,500 rpm and load sat about 9% under requested. No fault codes. The boost rule caught it, and it led to a leak.

Inside the analyzer

Every system gets a status

Flagged, clear or can't assess. A missing channel never counts as a pass.

  • No concern observed
  • Monitor
  • Investigation recommended
  • Immediate review
  • Cannot assess
Findings bar with status chips per system: Boost and Ignition flagged, Fueling and Transmission clear, Thermal, Torque delivery and Launch not assessable.

Evidence, not a verdict

Each finding lists the values and time window behind it, one click from the chart.

Boost finding detail: mean boost 2.1 psi below target, wastegate duty 98.5%, load and airflow at 91% of requested.

Knock control in two tiers

Held correction from 3° is a watch item. From 6° it is worth investigating.

Knock-control finding detail: one cylinder held 3.8 degrees of timing correction.

Before and after, on one chart

Overlay runs by rpm and check whether a fix held.

Two runs overlaid by rpm: the earlier run's boost drops under target from about 5,000 rpm, the later run tracks it.

Channels checked first

See what was recognized. Map a column with a different name.

Channel readiness for a generic CSV: 85 of 100, with the engine-speed column waiting to be mapped.

Take it to your tuner

Print a report or export a tuner worksheet. The VIN stays out by default.

What it checks

Deterministic rules with visible thresholds. Same log, same result.

  • Boost Boost under or over target
  • Ignition Knock-control timing correction, two tiers
  • Fueling Fuel rail pressure held below request
  • Thermal Intake temperature rise
  • Launch Launch throttle intervention
  • Drivetrain Drivetrain consistency

  • BMW-published coolant and oil references cover the N54 and N55 only. Other thresholds are screening values.

How it works

  1. Upload a log
    • MHD CSV
    • bootmod3 CSV
    • Mapped CSV
Up to 100 MB per upload. No dyno files.
  2. Check the channels
  3. Review the findings
  4. Ask the AI, if you want AI explanations use credits and can be wrong. The rules decide the findings.

Questions

Does it read fault codes?

No. It reads datalogs, not the DME's fault memory.

Which cars?

BMW turbo engines whose logs have the channels a check needs. BMW temperature references cover the N54 and N55 only.

Where do my logs go?

To Dynosaur's server for analysis. Saved runs stay in this browser unless you sign in; cloud workspaces are private but not end-to-end encrypted. Privacy and data

Do I need an account?

Not to inspect channels. Running an analysis needs a free account.

Can it tell me my tune is safe?

No. It compares the log with screening thresholds. Talk to your tuner before changing anything.
